Meet the Founder

Ikya Kenyatta is a recent Spelman College graduate from Riverdale, Georgia. While at Spelman, she served as the President of The United Negro College Fund's Pre-Alumnae Chapter on campus, President of both Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society and the English Club, and an Accenture Campus Ambassador. In previous years, she has held executive positions in Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Miss Maroon and White Cabinet, Miss UNCF court, and as a mentor through Gifted Girls of Grace.

Along with the work done through Spelman, she continued to shatter glass ceilings and overcome obstacles to further her education and success. Ikya was the inaugural Jacqueline Royster Distinguished Student Scholar at Spelman College. Through her interactions with the donor, she forged lifelong bonds between Spelman and The Georgia Institute of Technology, which assisted in the innovation of both institutions.

Ikya is currently a Strategy Analyst at Accenture and is working on a project out of the Atlanta Innovation Hub, assisting a Fortune 100 company in its procurement process. Outside of her position within the firm, she founded the 23 Jade Book Scholarship program, where she currently sponsors three scholars.

The 23 Jade Story

My entire life, I knew that Spelman College was the place for me. The years leading up to my acceptance were filled with extracurricular activities and other projects I thought would make me a competitive candidate for scholarships. When the time came for me to enter through Spelman’s gates, I  had only accumulated $5000 for my education. Although my funds were scarce, I was determined to attend my dream school regardless of the debt.

It was this resilience that made me the prime candidate and the Inaugural recipient of the Jacquline Royster Distinguished Student Scholarship at Spelman College. My donors, Colonel & Mrs. Stephan Hall, have shifted my world, and both their generosity and mentorship continuously allow me to dream bigger than I ever have.

This scholarship is a thank you to all of those who have had a hand in molding me into who I am today. A special thank you to Mrs. Cassandra Joseph, Mrs. Rosa McQuay, Ms. Sharon Lightfoot, and Mr. Theodore Tate for leading me down this beautiful journey.
